How to Measure PD
According to Dr. Specs; PD, (Pupillary Distance), refers to the measurement of distance from the center of one pupil to the center of the other. Distance is measured with a ruler, in millimeters. Dr. Specs says, “Ask your Eye Doctor to include PD Measurement on your prescription, to get the most accurate reading, or use a ruler to measure from one pupil center to the center of the other.
Experience in 3 Easy Steps
-
Measure the Distance
Look straight ahead and measure the distance to the center of the other pupil.
Record the measurement in millimeters.
-
Double-Check the Measurement
Repeat the process to ensure accuracy.
If someone is assisting, they can measure while you look straight ahead.
-
Consider Measuring Each Eye Separately
If your prescription requires separate PD for each eye, measure from the center of your nose to each pupil separately.
